In the middle of August, even though it&#8217;s very busy, there&#8217;s always room to relax. It&#8217;s a far cry from the Mediterranean phenomenon, where towels are just a touch away!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A children&#8217;s beach: the beach has a gentle slope, so you can splash around in the water up to 30 meters into the sea. Waves, though present, are weak. Supervised beaches are well signposted. At low tide, the children are in a huge paddling pool! A real treat for anxious moms and dads!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A beautiful promenade: A large embankment for walking, with a multitude of caf\u00e9s, restaurants, snack bars&#8230;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sailing club: At the end of the beach, by the pier, you can safely practice sand yachting, Hobbie cat, kite flying&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:9px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Minuses:  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70)\">\n<li>For swimmers: before you can start your breaststroke, before you lose your footing, you&#8217;re going to be doing a lot of walking in the water&#8230;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dogs are not allowed between 9am and 7pm during the season. If you have pets, it&#8217;s best to book in mid or low season at your <strong>seaside campsite in the Vend\u00e9e<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-f1e3dc65 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"background-color:#eba63830;padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to see and do  <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>L&#8217;estacade<\/strong>: At the end of the beach, it offers a unique and very pleasant view of the sea and a plunging view of the seafront.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>L&#8217;avenue de la mer<\/strong>: Take a stroll down the pedestrian street if you want to stroll, shop or eat a huge homemade 7 scoop ice cream: caramel\/litchi\/carambar\/passion\/camembert\/rillettes\/nutella!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>L&#8217;avenue de la<\/strong> for\u00eat: For its themed restaurants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fishing on foot, pine nuts<\/strong>: at low tide, during spring tides, scrape the sand and you&#8217;ll find little shellfish called pine nuts. A pan of pine nuts fried in butter with garlic and parsley: a delicious accompaniment to an aperitif!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Come and soak up the sun on the beach at <strong>Saint Jean de Monts<\/strong>, 15 minutes from Challans, close to the Avenue de la Plage, a pedestrian street that&#8217;s a real magnet! Sailing club, beach volleyball, fishing, swimming&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignfull has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill has-background\" style=\"background-color:#e3982024;padding-right:5%;padding-left:5%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The beaches of Saint Hilaire de Riez and Sion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are characterized by different landscapes: On the <strong>Saint Hilaire<\/strong> side, it&#8217;s one big sandy beach as far as the eye can see, while on the Sion side, it&#8217;s more like coves between rocks, with pebble beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>More  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A great beach, with different landscapes depending on where you stop. As you go further afield, you&#8217;ll discover huge, less-frequented beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-f1e3dc65 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"border-width:2px;padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>the most  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The lively embankment, restaurants and bars on the seafront, above the beach. You can enjoy a cocktail or an ice cream while watching your children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stroll around the marina with its colorful traditional fishing boats.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The great beach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Minus  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At high tide on the embankment, there&#8217;s little beach.
